Antique Bakelite? Heart Dark Purple Brown Monogram + Striped Vintage Heart Charm

I know very little about bakelite and this has not been tested.  but this dark heart looks and feels very much like antique bakelite.  The color when looked at with light shining through is a sort of very dark purplish brown with some swirling in the color.  when not held up to strong light it could be seen as black.  I tried to show this in the last picture but it is very difficult to capture in a picture.  The second picture shows a hint of the color along the edge.  The monogram is etched or engraved and looks like it originally had gold in the etching.  As a bonus I am including the second heart which is newer but definitely not modern.  it appears to be made in pieces with red and blue at the seams.   I see and feel no damage, just wear consistent with items of this style and age, but please view all pictures to confirm condition.
The large heart is 1.5 inches wide.  the smaller is 7/8" wide.
