    "
The American Centennial Exhibition opened in Philadelphia in Spring 1876 and celebrated the 100th anniversary of American independence, as well as a century of industrial and scientific achievement and cultural exchange."
"This portfolio, issued following the Philadelphia Centennial Exposition of 1876, was produced to highlight industrial and artistic achievement through detailed chromolithographs... of particular interest are the vivid plates of domestic and international furniture, decorative arts, and model home interiors, striking testaments to the boldness of Victorian design. "At its best, it represents some of the most delicate chromolithgraphic work done in America up to the time.""
