    Description

    Offered here is this capped, 1934 Lincoln penny made as a souvenir at the trial of Bruno Hauptmann, the convicted kidnapper and murderer of the Lindbergh baby. According to accounts, the man who made these souvenir pennies set up his machine on the steps of a Flemington hotel accross the street from the courthouse. I found a Getty image which shows the machine and courthouse. It is the last photo, and it is shown only for reference. The penny offered here is the last of a small lot of these pennies that I purchased at a flea market here in NYC over 15 years ago. They were in a roll with a number of unaltered cents.
